The Department of Pharmacy,Usha Martin University celebrated National Pharmacy Education Day on 6th March 2025 with great enthusiasm on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prof. M.L. Schroff, the father of pharmacy education in India. The event highlighted the evolution of pharmacy education in the country and paid tribute to Prof. Schroff’s invaluable contributions.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Barij Nayan Sinha, Dean Academics, UMU. Prof. Sinha, who superannuated on December 31, 2023, after serving BIT Mesra for over 40 years, spoke about the historical development of pharmacy education in India. He emphasized the pioneering role of Prof. M.L. Schroff in shaping pharmacy as a profession and inspiring generations of pharmacists.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Sakshi Verma and Ms. Paromita Chowdhury, both Assistant Professors in the Department of Pharmacy, UMU. The program was skillfully anchored by Ms. Kritika, a B.Pharm student.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr.Rojalini Samanta, Associate Professor and Vice Principal, Department of Pharmacy, acknowledging the efforts of the organizers, participants, and the esteemed keynote speaker.
The event served as a platform to inspire students and faculty alike, reinforcing the importance of pharmacy education and its continued growth in India.
