The NSS wing of Usha Martin University organized an impactful webinar in collaboration with Sakshi NGO, shedding light on the critical subject of ‘awareness about child abuse’ on the 14th of August, 2023.
Central to the webinar’s agenda was unveiling of a pioneering endeavour known as The Rakshin Project, a noble initiative designed to disseminate vital awareness about the pressing issue of child abuse. Dr. Sumbul Dawood, a distinguished speaker representing Sakshi NGO, eloquently spearheaded the discourse. With immense expertise and empathy, Dr Dawood delved into multifaceted strategies for preventing child abuse, focusing on the significant legal framework provided by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A pivotal aspect of the webinar encompassed comprehensive guidance on recognizing the signs of child abuse.
Students from various disciplines and the dedicated volunteers of the NSS unit lent their intellectual vigour and compassionate spirit to the proceedings.
National Service Scheme is an educational programme with a primary focus on the development of the personality of students through community service. The NSS Unit of Usha Martin University, Ranchi, has 300 volunteers. The activities and programmes of the university’s NSS Unit aim for students’ overall development.
