Ranchi, November 15, 2021: Prabhat Kumar, the first Governor of Jharkhand, will be the Chancellor of Usha Martin University, Angara. He is a 1963 batch IAS officer. He also served as Cabinet Secretary from 1998 to 2000, and after the formation of Jharkhand State in November 2000, he was appointed as the first Governor of the State.
During his tenure, he played an important role in the implementation of many schemes for the development and upliftment of the state, and ‘Nakshatra Forest Park’, which has become the identity of Ranchi today, is the fruit of his tireless efforts.
Shri Prabhat Kumar has also made significant contributions in the sphere of education; it has been his constant effort to ensure that the youth of Jharkhand receive a world-class education, that educational infrastructure should be modern, and that Jharkhand, which is known for its natural beauty, should be famous globally for its outstanding educational institutions.
Presently Shri Prabhat Kumar is serving as the Chairman of IC Center for Governance. The main objectives of the Center for Governance are to promote ethics in public and government administration, advocate for administrative reforms, formulate public policy, and promote institutional ethics to enhance productivity.
His new book, ‘Public Service Ethics – A Quest for Moral India,’ was recently published, in which he shared his vast experience and explained how the practice of ethical principles in daily life is important for the public governance system.
