Ranchi, August 13, 2021: The Usha Martin University Ground in Jharkhand will now host cricket matches organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has taken the responsibility of improving the level of the ground. MoU has been signed between JSCA and Usha Martin University in Ranchi on Friday at JSCA Stadium. JSCA and Usha Martin University signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) at JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, on Friday.
According to the MoU, the University Ground will be maintained by JSCA and eight turf wickets will be prepared there. Currently there are some drainage issues on the ground that will be fixed soon. Senior Vice President Ajaynath Shahdev and Secretary Sanjay Sahai signed on behalf of JSCA, while Vice-Chancellor Ramesh Kumar Pandey and Registrar AK Mishra signed for the University. Vinay Singh of the University was also present at the event.
Matches likely to be held in November-December
This season, JSCA may have to host some board matches. The University Ground will host one or two matches. A single-level pavilion will be built, which will have all kinds of facilities.
A three-level Ground is Required
The State Cricket Association needs at least three level grounds. The JSCA already boasts two international-standard grounds at the stadium in Ranchi. The UMU ground will fill the void left for the third ground. Vice-Chancellor, Ramesh Kumar Pandey and University Chairman, Hemant Goyal congratulated former JSCA President Amitabh Choudhary. The Vice-Chancellor stated that this Ground in Angara would benefit rural talents as well.
Four Grounds have been Established to Host BCCI Matches
JSCA stated that along with Usha Martin University Ground, now we have four venues for hosting BCCI matches in the state of Jharkhand. Jamshedpur’s Keenan Stadium, JSCA Stadium, two grounds at Ranchi, and the fourth University Ground are among them.
