Ranchi, September 18, 2026: The Department of Forensic Science, Usha Martin University, successfully organised a two-day celebration of “EVIDENTIA – Forensic Day” on September 17 and 18, 2026, under the theme “Every Detail Speaks.” The event brought together university and school students, faculty members, and participants from educational institutions across Ranchi, providing an engaging platform for learning, scientific exploration, and practical exposure to forensic science.
More than 200 visiting students and young learners participated in the programme, including students from Bishop School and SS +2 School, Childag, along with representatives from Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University and YBN University. Their participation added an inter-institutional dimension to the celebrations and encouraged knowledge sharing among students.
The inaugural ceremony, held on September 17 at the Central Auditorium, Konar Block, was attended by Pro-Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, Officiating Vice-Chancellor Brigadier Sumer Vir Singh, Registrar Dr. Shiv Pratap Verma, Dean Academics Prof. B. N. Sinha, and Head of the Department of Forensic Science Dr. Jagesh Kumar Ranjan, along with university officials, faculty members and students. The dignitaries emphasised the importance of scientific thinking, observation, evidence-based investigation, and the growing relevance of forensic science.
The first day featured the launch of the departmental magazine, debate and quiz competitions, certificate distribution, and a workshop by Vedicon, Bangalore. The second day, held at the Department of Forensic Science, Damodar Block, included model and poster presentations, a treasure hunt, Nukkad Natak, dance face-off, food and craft stalls, a live crime-scene activity, and a workshop by Forensibus, Kolkata. The live crime-scene activity was a key attraction, giving participants practical exposure to observing details, identifying potential evidence, and understanding the systematic approach used in forensic investigation.
The academic and creative activities further encouraged logical reasoning, teamwork, communication, and scientific curiosity. Through EVIDENTIA, the Department of Forensic Science sought to bridge classroom learning with practical experience while highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of forensic science, which draws upon biology, chemistry, physics, law, investigation, technology, and analytical reasoning. The successful conclusion of the two-day celebration marked a significant academic and co-curricular initiative of Usha Martin University, fostering scientific awareness, creativity, collaboration, and interest in forensic science. The event concluded with the message at its heart—“Every Detail Speaks.”
