The screening was held as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to promote meaningful engagement with socially relevant cinema and contemporary media practices.

Humans in the Loop is a critically acclaimed documentary of approximately 90 minutes that explores the invisible human labour behind artificial intelligence systems. Set largely in Jharkhand, the film brings attention to the lived realities of data workers whose efforts remain unseen in global narratives around automation and technology. The film is written and directed by Aranya Sahay and produced by Kiran Rao and Biju Toppo. Mr. Biju Toppo, one of the producers of the film, graced the occasion and interacted with the audience during the post-screening discussion.

Following the screening, a thoughtful discussion was held with faculty members, focusing on the ethical, social, and academic implications of artificial intelligence, labour, and representation. The interaction offered clear perspectives into the filmmaking process as well as the responsibilities of media and academia in addressing emerging technological issues.

The programme concluded with the gracious presence of Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Milind, Registrar Dr. Shiv Pratap Verma, Controller of Examinations Prof. Vinay Singh, and Dean (Academics) Prof. B. N.
