Self-defense training session organized for women in Usha Martin University
Ranchi, March 4, 2022: Today, on International Women’s Day, the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell and the NSS organized a self-defense training session for female students at Usha Martin University, Angara. It was attended by more than 50 female students. The program was inaugurated by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Madhulika Kaushik. and Registrar Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra.
Ranchi’s Chief Trainer and National Coach of Mixed Martial Arts Master Sifu Vishwajit Karmakar, and India’s oldest blackbelt woman (World Taekwondo Federation, South Korea), Mrs. Neelima Mishra and her fellow trainer Prasoon Vaidya attended the event. Trainers educated and trained female students in various martial arts forms, which mainly included Judo, Karate, Thai and Kick Boxing, Taekwondo and Wing Chun.
Prof. Madhulika Kaushik stated that women are now waving their flags in every field. Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra said that today’s women are hitting unprecedented heights in their careers, while perfectly balancing their personal and professional lives.
Dr. Anupama, Chairperson, Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell, thanked everyone and told the participants that self-defense knowledge is also a form of women empowerment since it allows them to protect not only themselves but also others when needed. All committee members of SAIL and NSS were present at the event.
