Usha Martin University Organizes Ph.D. Scholars Orientation Programme

Usha Martin University successfully organized a Ph.D. Scholars Orientation Programme on 11th April 2026 at the University Auditorium, Baitarnani Block, starting from 11:00 AM onwards.The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, who emphasized the importance of quality research and academic commitment. She stated, Research is not merely an academic requirement but a journey of inquiry, innovation, and contribution to society. Scholars must uphold integrity and strive for excellence in their work.The session was followed by the introduction of Ph.D. guides and respective Heads by faculty members, along with an interactive introduction of the newly enrolled research scholars. A total of 45 scholars from various disciplines, representing different states of India, participated in the programme.

Dean Faculty, Prof. Arvind Hans, while addressing the scholars on the role and expectations from research scholars, remarked, A research scholar must demonstrate curiosity, discipline, and a commitment to continuous learning. The responsibility of a researcher is not only to generate knowledge but also to contribute meaningfully to society. Dean Research, Dr. Amir Khusru Akhtar elaborated on the Ph.D. programme flow and processes. He noted, Understanding the research process, timelines, and academic requirements is essential for the successful completion of the Ph.D. programme. Structured planning and adherence to guidelines ensure academic progress.

Dean Academics, Prof. B. N. Sinha delivered an insightful session on barriers to effective research completion. He highlighted, the major challenges in research often arise from lack of clarity, time management issues, and limited resources. Overcoming these barriers requires perseverance, proper guidance, and a focused approach.An interactive Q&A session provided scholars with the opportunity to clarify their queries and engage with the faculty members.

At last Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Milind, in his session on research perspectives, emphasized the broader vision of research, stating, Research should aim at creating impact beyond academia. Interdisciplinary approaches and innovative thinking are key to addressing real-world problems through research.The programme concluded on a positive note, encouraging scholars to engage in meaningful research and contribute to knowledge creation and societal development.
