Ranchi, 25-02-2026– The Faculty of Agriculture at Usha Martin University organized a vibrant Holi Celebration 2026 at the university campus in Angara. The festival was based on the theme “Organic Gulal and Traditional Cuisine Festival,” promoting eco-friendly and natural ways of celebrating Holi.
The festival was formally inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, and the Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Milind, who opened the programme by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor stated that sustainability is no longer a local concern but a global responsibility. She remarked that institutions of higher learning must move beyond discussion and adopt sustainable practices in their daily functioning. She appreciated that the University not only speaks about sustainability in classrooms but also implements it through practical initiatives such as the organic Holi celebration. She observed that such efforts reflect a responsible academic culture and create awareness among students about their role towards society and the environment.
The Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Milind, in his address, highlighted the educational value of such initiatives. He noted that organizing and managing stalls provides students with practical exposure to planning, teamwork, budgeting, and marketing. He added that preparing and selling organic gulal and traditional food items can help students understand the basics of entrepreneurship. According to him, these activities encourage innovation and self-reliance, which can benefit students in their future academic and professional pursuits.
A total of 14 stalls were set up during the festival. The stalls displayed organic gulal prepared using natural ingredients such as flowers, corn flour, and essential oils. The chemical-free colours drew the attention of students, faculty members, and visitors. In addition, food stalls offering traditional Holi cuisine contributed to the festive atmosphere.
The entire festival was successfully coordinated by Miss Priya Priyanka and Miss Juhi Chandra. Their efforts ensured smooth organization and active participation from students. The event not only celebrated the spirit of Holi but also strengthened awareness about sustainability, healthy living, and community engagement within the University.
