UMU Conducts Training on Quality Assurance for Launch of Online Programmes

Ranchi, 27 February 2026: Usha Martin University organized a one-day training session on “Quality Assurance in Online Learning” for the programme coordinators, course coordinators, and technical team of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). The session was conducted as part of the university’s preparation for the launch of its online academic programmes, including BBA, BCA, MBA, and MCA, from the forthcoming academic year.

The training was delivered by Dr. Sanjaya Mishra, Director of Education, Commonwealth of Learning (COL), who shared his expertise on designing and implementing quality online education systems. During the session, he explained the principles of outcome-based curriculum design, learne- centred course development, and the importance of aligning digital pedagogy with national and global quality standards. He also guided participants on the development of self learning materials, the use of learning management systems, student engagement strategies, and mechanisms for continuous assessment and feedback in an online environment. Practical insights were provided on regulatory compliance, documentation processes, and quality benchmarks required for successful implementation of online programmes in higher education institutions.

The seminar was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Milind, Campus Director Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Dean Academics Prof. B. N. Sinha, and Director, CDOE, Prof. Arvind Hans. They appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of maintaining academic excellence and quality standards in online education delivery.

The session was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, UMU. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants clarified operational challenges and explored strategies for effective implementation of the upcoming online courses.
