Usha Martin University Held 3rd Convocation; 1191 Degrees Were Awarded

Ranchi, 16 February 2026:  Usha Martin University held its 3rd Convocation Ceremony on 16 February 2026 at  its  campus. The  ceremony  was  graced  by  the  Chief  Guest,  His  Excellency  Shri Arif  Mohammed  Khan, Hon’ble Governor of Bihar, who delivered the Convocation Address. He spoke to the graduating students about the role of education in shaping responsible and ethical citizens.

A total of 1191 degrees were awarded during the ceremony. These included 773 undergraduate degrees, 166 postgraduate degrees, and 233 diploma certificates across various programmes. In addition, 19 scholars received the Ph.D. degree. Academic excellence was recognised with the award of 21 Gold Medals and 19 Silver Medals to students who had secured top positions in their respective programmes.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the conferral of the Honoris Causa degree upon Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, eminent journalist and Parliamentarian, in recognition of his distinguished contribution to journalism and public life. His long-standing commitment to democratic values and ethical public discourse was acknowledged on  the  occasion. The  Honoris  Causa  degree  was  also  conferred  upon  Shri Subba  Rao  Pampana,  Managing Director of SS Energy Ventures Group, in recognition of his contribution to the energy sector and his leadership in promoting sustainable industrial development.

The programme began with the academic procession. This was followed by the National Song and the National Anthem,  after  which  the  ceremonial  lamp  was  lit.  The  University  report  was  then  presented  by  the  Vice Chancellor, Prof. Madhulika Kaushik. Thereafter,  the medals were presented, followed by the conferment of doctoral degrees, and finally the formal award of undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma degrees.

The ceremony was attended by the  Usha Martin University  Chancellor Shri Prabhat Kumar, Chairman Shri Hemant Goyal, Vice Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Milind, Registrar Dr. Shiv Pratap  Verma,  Dean Academics  Prof.  B.N.  Sinha,  Controller  of  Examinations  Prof.  Vinay  Singh,  Campus Director Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Finance Officer Ms. Renu Lal, members of the Board of Governors and the Board of Management, along with Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and administrative staff, who performed their respective roles during the proceedings.

The ceremony concluded with the National  Song  and the National Anthem. This was followed by the formal departure  of  the  academic  procession.  Held  in  a  dignified  atmosphere,  the  Convocation  was  conducted successfully  in  keeping  with  established  discipline  and  tradition.  The  Convocation  ceremony  honored  the outstanding achievement of students across various programmes and  marked an important occasion for  the graduating students and stood as a significant moment in the academic life of the University.
