UMU Faculty Represents Tripura at 54th Statehood Day Celebration in Jharkhand

Ranchi: On the occasion of the 54th Statehood Day of Tripura, a commemorative programme was held on 22 January 2026 at Lok Bhawan. Dr . Sharmistha Roy , Associate Professor , Faculty of Computing and IT , Usha Martin University , was invited to represent the state of Tripura and the university at this formal gathering.

On this significant occasion, Dr . Roy delivered a speech that reflected on the journey of Tripura to statehood and explored the richness of its cultural traditions. Her address highlighted the shared values and historical ties that connect Tripura and Jharkhand, and conveyed warm regards to the Honorable Governor of Jharkhand for his presence, guidance, and continued support in strengthening inter-state relations. As part of the ceremony , Dr . Roy also presented a memento to the Honorable Governor .

In recognition of her contribution, Dr . Roy was felicitated by the Honorable Governor. The felicitation was a moment of pride and served as encouragement to continue efforts toward preserving and sharing the cultural heritage of Tripura, while reinforcing bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two states.

Dr . Rupa Das, Assistant Professor , Faculty of Agriculture, Usha Martin University , was also present at the programme and joined in representing the university at the Statehood Day celebrations.

The event underscored the role of academic institutions and faculty members in cultural exchange and in fostering mutual respect and understanding among states through dialogue, tradition, and shared celebrations.
