Ranchi, September 15, 2025 – The Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at Usha Martin University (UMU) has entered into a significant academic-industry partnership by formally signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lok Alok News, a registered media organization with Akashvani (All India Radio). The MoU was signed by Dr. Shiv Pratap Verma, Registrar of UMU, and Mr. Abhishek Mishra, Chief Editor of Lok Alok News, in the presence of Dr. Leena Shrivastav, Deputy Registrar, and Dr. Shahnaaz Zabi, Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication.

This collaboration is aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional media practice. It will provide students with hands-on exposure to news reporting, anchoring, editing, podcasting, mobile journalism, and digital storytelling, along with access to Lok Alok News’ studios and newsroom environment. The MoU also envisages setting up a dedicated Campus Reporting Cell, conducting workshops, organizing masterclasses, encouraging collaborative research, and offering internships and placement support to deserving students.

The three-year partnership is expected to enrich students’ learning experience, enhance their employability, and prepare them as future-ready media professionals equipped with industry-relevant skills.
