Ranchi, April 8, 2025 — A group of enthusiastic students from the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication recently visited the 5th Jharkhand Imaging Expo, organized by the Jharkhand Photographic Association (Central). The event, held in Ranchi, offered a unique learning experience.

During their visit, the students actively engaged in event coverage, producing news packages that captured the essence of the expo. They interviewed participants, vendors, and experts, honing their skills in reporting, video production, and editing under real-world conditions.

The Imaging Expo showcased the latest innovations in photography and printing technology. Students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of professional cameras, lenses, and accessories, gaining insights into their technical specifications and practical uses. They also learned about advanced printing techniques and equipment, including photo lab solutions, large-format printers, and instant print technologies.

Speaking about the visit, one of the students shared, “It was an eye-opener. We not only saw the latest in photography gear but also got to understand how the printing industry works—something we often overlook.”

Faculty members accompanying the students noted that such hands-on exposure is crucial for journalism students, especially in the age of multimedia reporting. The visit aligned well with the department’s goal of integrating theoretical knowledge with field experience.

The 5th Jharkhand Imaging Expo proved to be a productive and inspiring outing, reinforcing the importance of experiential learning in journalism and mass communication education.
