On 15th August 2022, the NSS wing (National Service Scheme) of Usha Martin University, Ranchi celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75th Independence Day. The celebrations began with the National flag hoisting ceremony by Prof SC Garg, Pro-Chancellor, followed by the national anthem. The guests of honor CO and BDO Angad were felicitated with a plant by Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Registrar, and Prof Himanshu Narayan, Dean of Academics. All the present dignitaries lit up the lamp and started the cultural event. Inspirational speeches by Prof SC Garg and Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra highlighted the significance of patriotism and collective social work. MR Raj Kumar Mahto, an unsung hero during the freedom struggle from the Angada block of Ranchi got a special mention.
The whole week was celebrated as ICONIC WEEK during which numerous events were organized such as volleyball, Tug of War, Rangoli Competition, Marathon, Badminton, Painting Competition, Quiz Competition, and treasure hunt among others.
Teamwork of Dr. Abhishek Pandey, NSS program coordinator; Dr. Jagesh Kumar Ranjan, NSS2 program coordinator; Dr. Shubhrasekhar Chakraborty, NSS1 program officer; along with UMU Staff, NSS volunteers, and other students culminated the event in a success. This was followed by avote of thanks from Mr. Dilip Kumar Ranjan. The event was concluded by a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of all competitions held followed by the national anthem.
